Land Transaction Tax – Welsh Revenue Authority Update

Please see below message from the Law Society Wales Office:

Dear Member

As you will be aware, the new Land Transaction Tax will replace stamp duty land tax in Wales from 1 April.

As with HMRC, you will be required to register with the Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA) in order to file tax returns for transactions.

The registration process will open on the WRA website from 20 February 2018 when you will be able to sign up for an online account in readiness for the new tax.

A tax calculator is available on the WRA website

For further information on the WRA, including advice on the Land Transaction Tax, registration and guidance, visit the main website: www.gov.wales/wra

We are working with the WRA and Welsh Government to make your business ready for the new tax. If you want any further information please contact Kay Powell, Wales Policy Adviser at the Law Society.
