About Us

Welcome/ Croeso

Swansea & District Law Society was formed in 1879 to support solicitors in the Swansea area. Whilst we have changed our name once or twice since, our objective is pretty much the same now as when we started.

We have always been an active society holding regular meetings, social and training events for solicitors residing or practising in and around the Swansea area (including Neath, Port Talbot and Llanelli).

In addition to our regular work in our firms or companies (some of our members are in-house solicitors) we support various initiatives to encourage the solicitors of the future. We particularly value our close links with the students and staff of the Law School in Swansea University.

In recent years we have placed significant focus on raising funds for local worthwhile causes with each incoming President able to nominate a charity for support during his/her term of office.

We are independent of the Law Society of England & Wales but liaise closely with them regarding initiatives of national importance for the profession via their representatives on our committee. Via this route we are able to put forward the views of our members and keep our members up to date with national issues.
