President’s Nominated Charity

For many years now SDLS has supported various charities,
raising over £60,000 to date. This year our President has chosen to support LawCare. 

LawCare has been
supporting people working in the legal sector for nearly 30 years providing
free and confidential emotional support, peer support and information about
mental health for people in the legal sector in the UK, Channel Islands and the
Isle of Man.

LawCare advocates for
improvements in mental health practices within legal workplaces and actively
leads cultural transformation through education, training, and research. As a
charity, LawCare collaborates with legal educators, regulators, professional bodies,
special interest groups, and legal practices to address the growing body of
research that shows how accepted working practices and culture in law undermine
mental health.

Support is available
for all branches of the legal sector: solicitors, barristers, advocates,
judges, legal executives, paralegals, trademark attorneys, patent attorneys,
costs lawyers, notaries, licensed conveyancers, support staff, those studying
law, and concerned family members.
