AGM – 21 May 2026 – Save the Date / Request for Nominations for DVP

This year’s AGM will be held on Thursday 21 May 2026, likely start time 6 pm. We are firming up on the venue at the moment so full details and formal notice will follow in due course but please note the date. As usual we will be looking to elect a Deputy Vice President at the AGM to take the President’s seat in 2028 after Gareth Jones (who will be elected next month) and Suzanne Thomas (who will be elected next year). Please give some thought to whether you or one of your colleagues would like to be nominated. Again, formal notice will follow but the qualification for this nomination is that the candidate must have been a practising solicitor for at least 5 years and a member of SDLS at the time of election. If you would like to know more about this position or if you are interested in joining the committee please feel free to contact any committee member. Our details are all on our website https://swanseadistrictlawsociety.co.uk/committee-members/

Annual Dinner – 14 November 2025 – Bookings Now Open!

We return to the Brangwyn Hall for this year’s annual dinner on Friday 14 November 2025.   Our President this year is Paul Bevan of BWL solicitors and our guest speaker is Rhodri Lewis, political correspondent at the BBC. The dress code is, as usual, black tie/posh frock.   BOOKING Places at the dinner are always in demand so please ensure that you complete and return your booking form as soon as possible together with your payment as places will only be reserved upon full payment. The booking form can be found here. Booking will close on Friday 7 November.   DRINKS There will be a bar available at the venue from 6.30 pm, licensed until midnight and the QR code table service will also be available once seated. It is recommended that you pre-order wine for your table by using the following link at least 3 days before the event: https://www.jr-events.co.uk/brangwyn-drinks   SPONSORS We are delighted to confirm that our headline sponsor this year is Temple Legal Protection and, at the time of going to press, we are also kindly supported by Dawsons, Swansea Building Society, Lloyds Bank and Quiss Technology.   CHARITABLE SUPPORT Raising funds for local charities is an important part of the work of our society. This year our President has chosen to support the Kids Cancer Charity which is a very worthy cause. The easiest way to participate in the raffle on the night will be to bring cash with you but we will also be able to accept card payments this year for those who are cashless. There will also be a silent auction with some great lots which again will raise much needed funds and will help with your Christmas gift lists!
